UPDATE ON CONTRACT NEGTIATIONS

Our first joint negotiating meeting with P.V.S.C. was held on October 7th.
We reviewed proposals submitted from both sides. We have reached agreement on a few non-monetary proposals.

At this meeting we were unable to discuss Health and Wages. The Health Insurance bids were not available from the Health Insurance Companies.  We were told the Bids will be available at our next negotiation meeting. 
Our next negotiation meeting is scheduled for November.

I. B. E. W. LOCAL 1158 – PROPOSALS FOR P.V.S.C. 2010 CONTRACT

  
  1. Rules should be universally consistent.
  2. Shift workers are to be allowed to choose between pay and time-due for holidays worked and/or call-in work.
  3. Increase Optical Plan reimbursement from current $45.00 to $75.00 for eye examinations.
  4. Change any Dental Plan coverage from work done once in 5 years to once in 3 years.
  5. Shift differential to be paid for all hours worked in a 24 hour period.
  6. Use of personal time to be allowed on weekends.
  7. Provide the progressive advancement of employees in applicable categories from range 7 to range 8 after 1 year and from range 8 to range 9 after 2 years based on an established criteria.
  8. Change the Industrial Inspector work hours from 8:15 – 4:15 to 7:30 – 3:30.
  9. The “10 min.” rule for shift workers shall be considered as time on the job and paid for accordingly.
  10. Disciplinary action taken against an employee for the abuse of the “10 min.” rule is to follow the guidelines set in the current attendance policy.
  11. Attendance monitoring is to be changed from the current rolling 365-day review to a yearly review starting from December 31 back to January 1 of the same year.
  12. The limit of accrued due-time shall be raised from 80 hours to 120 hours. Only 80 hours can be banked.
  13. An employee performing the duties of a higher title shall be paid at the higher salary rate for each day the employee performs these duties.
  14. An employee that reaches the 6th step of their given pay range and remains at that pay rate for 10 years shall be given a one time step increase for the remainder of their time at that range.
  15. Provide a progressive increase of vacation days for service after 25 years to be 1 day per year for 5 years.
  16. Stand-by pay is to be given to any employee required to be on stand-by.
  17. General increase of 7.5% for each year of the contract.
  18. Provide binding arbitration to resolve issues brought to arbitration by either party.
  19. Provide 1 day off with pay to any employee who completes 6 consecutive months with a clean attendance record.
  20. Increase the Annuity Plan contribution to $1.00 per hour.
  21. Provide $1200.00 for laser eye correction surgery.
